Bad Pennies EPK
Bad Pennies - Top Dollar Rock & Blues from the Medway Delta.
Playing unadulterated blues rock - original compositions and a selection of covers playing tribute to some of the best blues rockers of the 70’s & 80’s - Johnny Winter, Stevie Ray, Dr Feelgood and apparently “one of the best Rory Gallagher tributes this side of the Irish Sea!”
Founded by guitarist Gary Seager, Bad Pennies started as a covers band playing around the Kent pub scene. Gary had played in several originals bands around London in a previous life. Very much influenced by Blackmore, Page, Rory and Johnny Winter.
The line-up evolved over the years and currently includes;
Gavin Matthews joined in 2015 and is a talented and vastly experienced bassist / songwriter and previously played in several NWBHM bands.
Adam Walker - Actually played bass with the band in 2014-15 before seeking other horizons. Now back on stage - and this time on lead vocals with the occasional rhythm guitar.
Rich Bailey, rising from the vibrant Medway jam scene, Rich has a dynamic mastery of the drums and has played with many local bands - including jamming with the awesome Zac Shulze Gang at the Rory Festival in Ballyshannon
From January ’24 the band are delighted to welcome Rich to the stage.
The current 2020 line-up is potentially the band’s best ever. They’ve played hundreds of shows and have become a favourite on the Kent music scene - thanks to Gary’s outstanding guitar work, Dave & Gavin’s locked-down rhythm section and now Adam’s fantastic vocals.

2020 Shows
The band is building a healthy diary for 2020 with dates at some of the more popular pub venues in and around Kent. Also looking forward to their 5th appearance at Broadstairs Blues Bash, return visit to the excellent Blues at Barleylands, and Alford Blues & Rock Festival , Surrey.

Discography
Their 2016 EP “Turned Up Again” was actually a promo disc, recorded at Ranscombe Studios, Rochester and included 4 covers and two original tracks.
Primarily intended for promotion, the EP was sent to some radio presenters and it actually made a modest entry into the IBBA Top 40 UK Blues Chart. Really well-received by those who played it - and great feedback on the original material.
In 2018 released their long-awaited and highly-acclaimed debut album:
“Songs from the Medway Delta” was recorded by Jim Riley at Ranscombe Studios in Rochester and - 14 original compositions written by three of the band in five combinations. Very diverse, with acoustic tracks expertly mixed in with the more powerful blues rockers, the band worked with Jim Riley to produce a very spontaneous, ‘live-sounding’ album which has been very well received and featured in multiple ‘Pick of the Year’ shows at the end of 2018.
To round off the year, the band were very proud to receive two “Best Album - 2018” awards - from Borough Blues Radio Show and the Wrinkly Rockers Club
